Keyondra Lockett is an extremely talented Gospel artist, influencer, and entrepreneur. I had the opportunity to speak with Keyondra as we discussed the launch of her apparel line, her music, the reality of Covid-19 and her upcoming projects. As far as her apparel line, Keyondra launched an athleisure ware apparel line, “Jolie Noire” (Joliexnoire.com) along with her sister, celebrity stylist, Kimberly Lockett in January 2018. The sisters launched their company with a mission to celebrate diversity, empowerment of black women and the inclusion the fashion industry. Lockett is not new to the music industry she is one of the original members of billboard charting gospel group Ziel and shares the accomplishment of two-time Stellar Award Nominee. As an influential writer Lockett wrote “State of Emergency” for Ziel’s album, “Pronounced Zy-El”. “State of Emergency” which reached top 15 on Billboard. Lockett’s single, “Try” also reached Billboard top 15 and the video was featured on BET Her Gospel Videos. The passion behind “Try” is a song that promotes overcoming the obstacles of life and trusting God while trying. The album continues to impact audiences worldwide. During the first week of the singles release sales rocketed on Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart at #9, Billboard Top 50 Christian and Gospel at #42 and Billboard Top New Artist (All Genres) at #109. In 2019, she released a deluxe version of “The Heal” with three additional songs titled “The Heal Reloaded” which landed at #11 on Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart and single “Trouble Won’t Last” received over 25,000 streams on Spotify in the albums first week sales.

I asked Keyondra, How is she managing during Covid-19?

“You can’t do this pandemic without the power of prayer, getting on your knees and praying to the Lord. A lesson that God is teaching me because we have mask on, right? So before Covid-19, I didn’t speak, not because I’m being mean but we are all going about our own lives. It’s not until now that I’ve been able to slow down and pay attention. Now when I look at people I wave my hand and nod my head, it’s really taught me so much and I’m so very thankful. ”

Additionally, Lockett is working on her new EP which will is to be announced amid Covid and the full release of new music. All of Keyondra’s music can be found on all streaming and digital download outlets. Presently, Keyondra continues to spread the message of Christ, courage and growth through her work in music and we will continue to support her.
